Beit Al – Yateem is a non – profit, social
philanthropic institution for public
Service. It was founded at Abey by the late
Arif Al – Nakadi with the assistance of the
social welfare Service which provided one third
of the necessary funds, the rest having been a
bank loan collateral for which was the personal
properties of Mr. Nakadi
Following a very modest beginning which started
with the assistance of private and corporate
donors in Lebanon and abroad, as well as with
help from the social welfare service, the
Orphanage now owns the main building
(construction completed in 1968 at Abey), the
Administration (or Azzam) building constructed
with money bequeathed by the late Hussein Azzam
and the new school building, all three on one
plot of land, along with three other separate
buildings.
It is in these structures our children are
housed and taught. At the time of this writing
we had 905 boys and girls (orphans and socially
difficult cases) and 145 employees and teachers.
Beit Al- YAteem provides shelter, clothing,
feeding and teaching the orphans and children in
the category of socially difficult cases. This
type of care covers children from three to
twenty one years of age.
